6 Express Steps To Bathroom Cleaning When Time Isn’t On Your Side

As much as you may want to have a spotlessly clean bathroom every day, if you share your home with others, or are a messy washer, this will be far from the reality.

Bathrooms are often busy spaces in the home, especially family bathrooms, and they may be in use on and off throughout the day. Now, that wouldn’t be an issue if every person who visited did a little bit of cleaning before they left, but that doesn’t happen in the average household! And while it might be okay to let a bit of dirt and mess slide when your schedule is tight (and you barely have time to wash yourself, let alone clean up afterwards!), it isn’t a good idea to let it slide for too long. Why? Because bacteria and other contaminants take mere seconds to attach themselves to the surfaces and corners of your bathroom, and if left uncleaned, can make you really sick.

Additionally, what if you happen to have an unexpected visitor to your home one day and they’re forced to use your dirty bathroom? They might choose to ignore it (maybe their bathroom is the same), or they might choose never to forget it and forever judge you on your standard of cleanliness!

If your bathroom is in a state and you don’t have much time to give it a deep clean, here are 6 ways to get the job done, quickly and efficiently:

  1. Get a grocery bag

Having a bag on hand (preferably a recyclable or reusable one) makes it easier to pick up any used Q-tips or cotton pads that might have spilled out of the trash can, or empty shampoo bottles that might be cluttering up the shower cubicle.

  1. Bleach and flush

If you prefer to use a cleaning solution that isn’t chemical based, you can of course do so, but for getting rid of stains (and smells!), nothing works quite like bleach. Pour a cup of it into the toilet bowl, give it a quick scrub and wait a couple of minutes before flushing.

  1. Get your gleam on

Nothing makes a bathroom look grubbier than toothpaste stains and soap scum. So, fill a spray bottle with water and white vinegar in equal parts, squirt it onto a cloth or paper towels, and wipe off any surfaces or items that have become smeared and stained. From the mirror to the faucets and shower stall, this quick job will enhance your bathroom no end, and is always worth finding a couple of minutes to do.

  1. Gather dust and dirt

Using the same vinegar and water solution sprayed onto paper towels, run your hand over any dusty, dirty surfaces of the room, including the corners, and toss them in the trash. Then, go back to the toilet and flush the bleach away.

  1. Refresh hand towels

Hand towels that have been left hanging without ever being able to dry out properly, can quickly begin to smell dingy and stale, and give your bathroom an unpleasant aroma. Change them up every few days, making sure, of course, that you have plenty of spare clean ones.

  1. Shake it out

Bath mats and rugs are extremely useful in a bathroom, but they quickly get grubby and can be real havens for hair and dust. So, if you don’t have time to vacuum them, and don’t wish to change them yet, simply shake them out (preferably outside) and fluff them up before returning them.

Don’t even have the time for express bathroom cleaning? Hire a cleaning company and have them take care of the dirty work for you.
