7 Steps To A Bathroom That Sparkles

Cleaning the bathroom might not be your favorite cleaning task (if you have any favorites at all!), but it’s a necessity. Fortunately, though, provided you take the time to clean your bathroom on a weekly basis, it doesn’t have to take up too much time and effort.

Here’s how to get your bathroom sparkling clean in just 7 steps:

  1. Get rid of any clutter

Before you even think about cleaning your bathroom, you must eliminate all clutter first, as this will enable you to see what needs to be cleaned, and to clean it better (and quicker), too.

  1. Clean with a dry cloth first

It’s always best to dry clean the surfaces in your bathroom first, so that you can get rid of any surface dust or dirt without getting it wet and simply wiping the dirt around. If you prefer, you can remove the top layer or dust and dirt using an attachment on your vacuum cleaner.

  1. Start at the top and work your way down

This is simply the logical approach when you’re cleaning any room in your home, as you don’t want to have to re-clean the bottom surfaces if you start there, and then go on to dislodge dust and grime from the upper surfaces.

  1. Try to use natural cleaning products where possible

It can be tempting to dowse your bathroom in strong chemical cleaners to eliminate all germs, but this really isn’t necessary, and in fact, can be very harmful not just for the environment, but your health, too. Use combinations of vinegar, water, baking soda and lemon juice to get your bathroom hygienically, but safely clean.

  1. Remove bath mats and/or rugs

Be sure to take all floor coverings out of the bathroom before you start, and either replace them with fresh ones after you’re done cleaning, or vacuum them.

  1. Don’t neglect the shower door or curtain

It can be easy to overlook this when cleaning, but if you regularly neglect to do it, your shower will quickly begin to look and smell grubby. From soap stains and scum to mold and mildew, always take the time to clean your shower door or curtain with vinegar and water, and if the curtain can be tossed in the wash, even easier!

  1. Leave no surface unwiped!

Nasty particles from the toilet when it’s flushed or from the sink, shower or tub can easily get spread around in a bathroom, so it’s important to leave no surface uncleaned. As with the rest of the room, try to stick to natural cleaning products where possible, and don’t forget the toilet flush, toilet seat and faucets.

Stick to this simple cleaning routine every time you tackle your bathroom, and you should be able to keep it as clean as a whistle. Alternatively, ask a local cleaning company to come in once a week or fortnightly, to get it hygienically clean for you.
