How A Clean Home Can Lift Your Mood

Clea-Home-Happy-Home

For some, the act of cleaning is in many ways therapeutic, while for others, it’s a series of chores that are begrudgingly carried out and often put off until they really can’t be ignored any longer.

Whatever you may feel about cleaning your home, there can be no disputing the fact that a clean one can certainly help to improve the mood and lift spirits. A bad day at work, followed by a return to a messy home that smells bad and looks even worse, is never going to cheer you up. While returning to a clean home that looks and smells inviting, provides a welcome relief from the stresses and strains of work or whatever else you may have going on in your life.

Which type of person are you when it comes to keeping a clean home?

Do you keep on top of your housework and make sure that no matter how busy you are, your home isalways clean and tidy? Perhaps you designate one day a week to blitzing the place so that it’s never untidy for long? Or do you let chores build up because you’re either or too busy or too unmotivated to do them, allowing your home to get into a real state of disarray?

This then adds to your unwillingness to keep it clean, and you slowly become more and more depressed about how it looks?

If you’re the former type of person, then it seems as if you can stay on top of things and probably don’t need any help with keeping your home clean and tidy. But if you’re the latter type, then you may need a few pointers to help you relieve the stress of an untidy home and help lift your spirits.

How you can achieve a clean home in small steps

One of the most effective ways to keep on top of the cleaning schedule in your home, is to break all the tasks and chores down into smaller, more doable actions. The key is to then keep on top of the smaller tasks, so that they don’t go on to become bigger tasks.

For example, you could begin the week by doing one load of laundry so that you or your household at least have clean undergarments for the week ahead! If this means that you get up early to do it, then so be it, it will make your life so much easier when you get in from work or if you have a busy schedule that day. Ensure that there are no dirty pots and pans in the sink and that the kitchen surfaces are clean and free of too much clutter.

The next day you could do another load of laundry if necessary, and then turn your attention to dusting and putting any clutter away. Storage boxes are a great way of removing clutter but having it close at hand should you need it. Decluttering is something that’s made a whole lot easier if you simply put things away right after you’ve finished with them.

Another days’ task could be vacuuming, and depending on how many carpeted floors you have, this might be enough for one day. Keep on top of your laundry, even if it means doing small loads several times a week, anything is better than having to spend your entire weekend washing, drying and folding laundry!

You would probably then want to dedicate at least an hour one day of the week, to cleaning your bathroom(s), and again, if you try to keep it tidy and clean as you go along, you won’t end up with a filthy bathroom that no one wants to use!
