Whether you are the kind of person who enjoys spending their time cleaning, or not, the importance of completing each cleaning task thoroughly, should be a priority. If you hate cleaning, then not finishing a job properly, will just mean that you will need to repeat it much sooner than you would like. If you enjoy cleaning, then doubtless you would want to finish each task thoroughly anyway.
Staying on top of cleaning within your home is one of the best ways of reducing the time that you need to spend doing it, but if you’re hurrying through each task and doing a half-hearted job, then there is little point; you’ll still need to repeat the job regularly.
Even if there is a certain cleaning task that you have delayed doing because you just can’t bring yourself to tackle it (such as cleaning the cooker or the fridge), once you have tackled it and completed it thoroughly, you can then forget about it for at least a couple of weeks, depending on the job. Thoroughly doesn’t always have to mean spending more time on it, it just means that you shouldn’t cut corners. With the right tools and cleaning solutions for each task, a thorough job doesn’t have to mean a long job.
It’s important that if you have recruited your kids to help you clean, that you go on to instill in them the need to finish each job properly, too. Kids tend to get the job done as quickly as possible so that they can go back to their electronic devices, or playing with their toys, but there is little point in them helping you, if they’re making more work for you by not finishing each job thoroughly. A ‘job well done’ isn’t a bad motto for your kids to learn anyway, so even if they hate helping you to clean, you’ll be giving them a good life lesson and preparing them for the rigours of cleaning their own homes when they finally move out of yours!
