Keep Your Home Clean Every Day With These 5 Hacks

Don’t we all want a clean home every day? Most would answer: yes, but, finding the time and motivation to maintain cleanliness amid a hectic schedule and work and social commitments, isn’t as simple.

With this in mind, here are 5 hacks to help you clean your home, and keep it that way:

  1. Schedule a time for cleaning

Even if you only have 15 minutes free each day to clean, that’s better than nothing, and when you set your mind to it, a lot can be achieved in a short space of time. As such, try to block off this amount of time each day (or longer if you have more time) and use it to clean and nothing else.

By scheduling cleaning sessions in this way, you’re more likely to make it a habit, and your home is more likely to remain cleaner and tidier, for longer.

  1. Clean up as you go

By cleaning up messes as they occur, you can make mini cleaning sessions part of your daily routine, and prevent yourself from having to devote more time to it when you’re busy or simply don’t feel like cleaning. Try to instil this in other members of your household, too.

  1. Carry out a speed clean in the event of guests

If you have guests coming to stay, or just to visit, a quick clean of areas they are likely to see and use is advisable. Make sure entryways are clean and clutter-free, living spaces are tidy and presentable, and the kitchen and bathroom are free from lingering odors and stains. Give surfaces in these spaces a quick wipe down, vacuum the floor and eliminate any sourced of odors, such as damp towels and overflowing trash cans.

  1. Create a cleaning checklist

These can be helpful in aiding you when you forget what needs to be cleaned, and in what order. They don’t need to be complicated or take much time to write out, just the basics will do, such as make the bed, empty or load the dishwasher, vacuum the entryway etc.

You can also make different checklists for different days of the week, and for weekly or monthly cleaning sessions. Conduct a walk-through of your home and note down all of the different tasks that need to be completed, and give them an urgency rating. Some tasks might be able to wait, while others need tackling right away, such as a spillage or a particularly grubby floor, and some tasks may take longer than others, so need to be assigned to a time when you’re not so busy.

  1. Get your family to pitch in

The quickest way to a clean home (aside from hiring a professional cleaning company, which is a great idea), is to get everyone else in the household involved, and to have them view cleanliness in the same way as you do. Even small children can learn to put things back where they got them from, and with everyone involved, you stand a much stronger chance of being able to maintain a clean home, every day.

While your home may not be spotlessly clean every single day, you can at least keep it in a hygienic and presentable state by following the hacks listed above. And, if all else fails, or checklists aren’t your thing, you can simply hire a cleaning company to help you out.
