What Your Messy Home Might Say About You

Messy Home

There’s much more to life than keeping a clean and tidy home…isn’t there?

With so many pressures placed on home makers these days, is it ever possible to have an immaculate home, and in fact, is this even necessary? Many of the pressures relate to standards that most busy moms and dads are never going to be able to aspire to, and leave most people with a feeling of discontent and inadequacy when they’re unable to achieve them.

A clean home that can be lived in safely and with a degree of comfort, is of course something that we should all aspire to, but immaculate homes are simply not possible or needed in a world where many members of households go out to work 6 days a week, and there are often children and pets to look after, too.

However, if your home has started to become too messy for your own liking (never mind anybody else’s), here’s what that might say about you:

  • Cleaning up after others, is not your priority

While you might be more than willing to clean up after yourself, you’re not so keen to do it for others. You probably prefer to spend that time doing something valuable and which gives you, or your family members, pleasure.

  • When your home is messy, that’s okay

You probably accept that if your home is messy, it means that your kids have had fun and haven’t been sat around moping in their bedrooms all day long.

  • You may have recently given birth

A new baby is reason enough for anyone to have a messy home, and until the new addition requires less of your time and energy, keeping your home tidy is not going to be a priority.

  • Your lifestyle is tiring

If your recreational, educational or work-related pursuits are tiring you out, then you won’t have the time or energy to focus on keeping your home free from mess, and you accept that.

  • You’re an outdoors person

If keeping your home clean and mess free means having to stay indoors while you do it, then you’re not so keen. You prefer the great outdoors and will do whatever it takes to make sure that you spend enough time in fresh air, rather than stale, internal air.

  • Confidence is key

Maybe you simply don’t care what others think about the state of your home, and if it’s messy, it can stay messy.

  • The arty type

Creative folks tend to be a little messier in their everyday lives, and if that’s you, then so be it.

  • You work hard

Working long hours means that the last thing you want to do when you get in from a hard day, is scrub the floors, degrease the cooker or pick up the general debris that may be scattered about the place. You want to put your feet up and unwind, and you deserve to.

There may be many reasons why you don’t keep your home as tidy as others, but if you are content with those reasons, and have accepted that a messy home is a by-product of the type of life that you currently live, then who cares?

However, if you do care, then it might be advisable to engage the services of a cleaning company, so that you can continue the style of life that you’re leading while still being able to achieve a clean and tidy home.
